Columbus Police Detective Mark Young is recognized as a “Top Cop” by the Delaware County Prosecutor’s Office.
Detective Young was part of a sting operation that prevented a 15-year-old girl from being prostituted for someone else’s profit.
“Detective Young testified twice, and did a great job,” said Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Kate Munger. “He was easy to access, thorough in his investigating, and dedicated to the case. Victims of prostitution and human trafficking are lucky to have Detective Young on their side.”
Young was surprised to learn he had been chosen to receive an award, and wanted to share the spotlight.
“Thank you so much for this recognition. I would also like to honor my fellow members in the Organized Crime, Central Ohio Human Trafficking Task Force,” Young said. “We were able to rescue the victim of this horrible crime because we worked as a team and demonstrated relentless dedication to the prevention of human trafficking.”
The Top Cop award is given by the prosecutors every eight weeks to law enforcement involved in Delaware County cases.
Young will be given a complimentary dinner for two by “Top Cops” sponsor Cracker Barrel.
