People who are seeking seasonal employment may want to consider opportunities with the City of Delaware and the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium.
Delaware is seeking to fill about 30 seasonal openings at Oak Grove Cemetery, Hidden Valley Golf Course and the Public Works and Public Utilities Departments.
“The specific number (of jobs) will be determined by what the departments’ needs are and what projects they may have upcoming during the summer season,” Community Affairs Coordinator Lee Yoakum told The Gazette. “These are seasonal labor positions that can be for a variety of skilled and unskilled duties.”
Yoakum said these jobs are available every year, average between 24-to-40 hours per week, and will last until late summer or early fall.
“The period that these positions cover closely follows the summer break when schools are out, so we find that the offering is particularly popular with of-age high-school students and college students,” Yoakum said.
The city’s website said applicants must be at least 18, have a valid driver’s license and be willing to undergo a pre-employment drug screening. Applications will be accepted online until March 27. For more information, call 740-203-1025 or visit http://www.delawareohio.net/.
From 1 to 4 p.m. on March 15, there will be a Job Expo at the Columbus Zoo’s Water’s Edge Events Park for spring and summer jobs at the Zoo, Zoombezi Bay and Safari Golf Club. Supervisors will be on hand to discuss admissions, aquatics, education, food and beverage, retail and rides positions.
“Seasonal employment can last up to 10 consecutive months,” Zoo spokeswoman Jennifer Wilson told The Gazette. “Some seasonal positions are available for 16-year-olds, but most positions require applicants be 18 or older.”
