An Indiana man has been charged with two misdemeanors following a fatal crash on Interstate 71 Friday evening.

Nicholas West, 28, pleaded not guilty Monday in Delaware Municipal Court to a count of negligent vehicular homicide and vehicular manslaughter. He was also charged with assured clear distance.

West was traveling northbound on I-71 near the U.S. 36-Ohio 37 interchange when the 2006 Ford F250 he was driving veered left and struck a 2013 Toyota Prius driven by Zakaria M. Tefft.

The impact caused the Prius to strike a 2013 Ford E250 van driven by George V. Claudio, 52, of Cleveland.

Tefft, 31, Pittsburgh, was killed in the accident. Claudio and West were treated for non-life threatening injuries.

West was released Tuesday from the Delaware County Jail on a $5,000 bond.
