Petty Officer 1st Class Joshua Grisdale, a native of Delaware, is serving aboard USS Philippine Sea, a U.S. Navy warship, currently deployed in the Atlantic Ocean participating in the Carrier Strike Group Four Composite Training Unit Exercise (COMPTUEX). COMPTUEX is an intense, multi-week exercise designed to fully integrate a carrier strike group as a cohesive, multi-mission fighting force and to test its ability to carry out sustained combat operations from the sea.

Depot restoration continues

Work continues on the restoration of the former C.C.C.& I. Railroad Depot on Lake Street, and RiverWest Partners LLC is ready to move forward with the second phase of the project. During the July 26 meeting of the Delaware Historic Preservation Commission (HPC), the commission granted a certificate of appropriateness for the proposed site improvements included in the second phase.

Sawmill Parkway to be completed

The final component of the city’s plans to extend Sawmill Parkway to South Section Line Road is now in place after the Delaware City Council approved an ordinance authorizing City Manager Tom Homan to enter into a grant agreement with the Ohio Department of Development during Monday’s meeting.
