Orange Township

Orange Township on Saturday will host its 5th annual Independence Day celebration with a parade and a 4-mile run. Race day registration and packet pick-up begins at 7:30 a.m. Saturday at Orange Middle School, 2680 E. Orange Road, Lewis Center. The 4-mile course starts promptly at 9 a.m. and finishes at Orange Middle School. All participants must be clear of the course by 10 a.m. for the parade.

Parade formation begins at 8:45 a.m. along the back of the Oak Creek Shopping Center with the parade beginning at 10 a.m. South Old State will be closed at 9 a.m. Parade participants should enter through the Cameron Avenue entrance by Donatos Pizza.

The two-mile parade route starts on Powell Road, (Oak Creek Center) travels east to Old State and proceeds north on Old State and then east to Orange Middle School. Cabot Rea will serve as the grand marshal for this year’s parade.

The event will continue rain or shine, unless there is lightning in the immediate area. Trophies will be awarded for first, second and third place with a separate category for schools.
