Commissioners consider diverting roads and bridges funds

In an attempt to avoid layoffs of county employees, Delaware County commissioners Ken O’Brien and Tommy Thompson are considering diverting tax money currently funding the county engineer’s office. Commissioner Todd Hanks is opposed to the suggestion.

The commissioners are considering the measure as a possible alternative to laying off employees and reducing county services. While projections vary, the county could be as much as $10 million in the red, exceeding the county’s entire $8.4 million ‘rainy day’ reserve fund.... Cont'd
