OWU to study protocol after handcuffing of professor

Last month, Delaware police, responding to a report of a possible break-in at a university building, mistook an Ohio Wesleyan University professor for an intruder and momentarily handcuffed him at gunpoint in his office.

The incident has led to concern among some OWU professors and students, who have said the police response was heavy-handed and a possible instance of racial profiling of the Latino professor. Police say the incident was not racially-motivated, and if they’d had more information prior to arriving on the scene, it could have been avoided.... Cont'd
