Just in time for the new school year, Olentangy Local Schools will launch its new website on July 29.

“It’s going to be more user-friendly, and have easier access to information,” said Superintendent Wade Lucas.

In a message on the current website, the district said more content will be placed in PowerSchool, the web-based student information system that contains attendance and grades.

Among the new content is all school report cards on the Parents Resources page; gifted plans for students; and bus pick-up schedules and assignments. In addition, school and lunch fees can be paid in PowerSchool, replacing the SPS EZ Pay program.

“There’s going to be features in it intended to make it easier for parents to use,” said district spokesman Devon Immelt.

From the new website, you will be able to download applications for iPhone and Android phones, and the information can be accessed from any device.

The district is also expanding the use of Schoology, which allows teachers to share academic content with students and parents in a secure environment. The district will provide information on setting up accounts for PowerSchool and Schoology.

In a recent look at the new website, it appeared to be less cluttered in appearance. It is said to be easier to navigate, and more dynamic and responsive for parents and students.

Lucas said the district’s summer newsletter will be delivered on July 26. The 2015-16 school year begins Aug. 12. The current district site can be accessed at http://www.olentangy.k12.oh.us/
