The Delaware, Morrow and Richland County farm bureaus are collaborating to host the second annual “Flying Horse Farms — Grow it, Know it, Give it” even on Aug. 22.

The event treats guests to chef-prepared, locally sourced dinner at the children’s camp at Flying Horse Farm. All proceeds help further the mission of Flying Horse Farms and provide operating expenses for the children’s vegetable garden.

Flying Horse Farms provides unique experiences for children with serious illnesses. Located on 200 acres in Mount Gilead, the camp serve hundreds of children and families each year free of charge.

“This camp provides experiences to children with serious illnesses,” said Andrea Bayles, Morrow County Farm Bureau board member. “Farm Bureau is proud to support that effort with an evening of great food and friendship in a beautiful setting.”

The event takes place on Aug. 22 from 5 to 8:30 p.m. at Flying Horse Farm, 5260 State Route 95, Mount Gilead. Tickets are $75 and can be purchased by contacting the Morrow County Farm Bureau at 800-327-6055. Reservations close Aug. 17.

Guests will enjoy a meal prepared by Chef Joseph Motter, Malabar Farm Restaurant chef and owner. Each of the seasonally inspired courses will be paired with an Ohio wine and served in the camp dining hall.

This year’s menu includes a choice of smoked trout or pork risotto with seasonal vegetables and cinnamon cheesecake with local blueberries and candied bacon.

Guests can also participate in camp tours.
