Mulch 1st has a new location on State Route 37, west of Sunbury and east of Carters Corner Road.

Mulch 1st is now at 9821 E. State Route 37, Sunbury.

Owner Scott Wagner started Mulch 1st in 2007 at the end of Kintner Parkway in Sunbury Industrial Park.

Last Friday morning, a host of Sunbury/Big Walnut Area Chamber of Commerce members, family and friends were on hand at the new Mulch 1st location for an official ribbon-cutting ceremony.

Wagner said the new SR 37 location is more visible, easier for customers to locate, and provides a more retail-friendly environment.

“We will have more retail-friendly products in our new location, including birding products, garden art and pottery,” Wagner said. “We’ll still have our mulch production facility in the industrial park, and we’ll still accept yard waste for small fee.”

Wagner said Mulch 1st is a class IV compost facility recognized by the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency, allowing it to accept source-separated yard waste. Mulch 1st recycles yard waste and manufactures it into specialty triple-processed mulches.

“All of our bagged and bulk mulches are all natural and organic,” Wagner said. “There’s no construction debris used in our manufacturing process; we use all recycled yard waste.”

Mulch 1st also operates a sister company, 1st Impressions Lawn & Landscape Co., that specializes in landscape design, build and property maintenance.

“We want to welcome all residents of Sunbury and Galena and the surrounding community to visit our wide selection of products for home and garden,” Wagner said. “And I especially want to thank my staff and family for supporting this move. It was a big-time commitment.”

Retail store hours are from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays. For more information, log on to mulch1st.com or call 740-965-6482.
