Asbury to mark UMW Sunday

On Sunday, April 10, Asbury United Methodist Church will celebrate United Methodist Women Sunday.

United Methodist Women support national and overseas missions with emphasis on service to women, children and youth. UMW members will lead the service.

Methodist Theological School of Ohio professor Sarah Heaner Lancaster will preach on “The Art of Happiness.”

Lancaster is professor of Theology at MTSO and an ordained elder in the North Texas Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church. Her doctorate is from Southern Methodist University.

She is the author of “Women and the Authority of Scripture: A Narrative Approach” and “Pursuit of Happiness: Blessing and Fulfillment in Christian Faith,” and is co-author of the 2015 UMW mission study “Created for Happiness: Understanding Your Life in God” with Cynthia Bond Hopson.

She has also published a number of articles in theology and Wesleyan studies. She has served the United Methodist Church in several ecumenical dialogues.

Asbury worship service is at 10:45 a.m.. The church, at 55 W. Lincoln Ave., is handicap-accessible from the parking lot entrance.
