Clements joins Siegel as BW athletic trainer

Nate Clements is the Big Walnut Schools’ newest athletic trainer, joining current Lori Siegel in the role.

During a June school board meeting, board members approved a three-year contract extension with Nationwide Children’s Hospital Sports Medicine Department. Nationwide Children’s is the school district’s athletic trainer provider.

Siegel has been the district’s athletic trainer for the past eight years. With the Nationwide contract extension, Big Walnut will have Clements, as a second athletic trainer, on board.

“We’ve been trying for some time to get a second athletic trainer,” Superintendent Angie Pollock said at that June board meeting. “The added services of one more trainer will be good for our student athletes as the district continues to grow; and the contract extension, with the added athletic trainer, does not have a cost increase.”

During last week’s coaches in-service session at Big Walnut High School, Siegel introduced Clements.

“Right now we’re still deciding how we’re splitting our individual responsibilities,” Siegel said. “We do know that Nate will be spending a lot of his time at Big Walnut Middle School.”

Clements graduated from the University of Findlay with a bachelor’s degree in athletic training. He spent the past two years serving as an athletic trainer with Tiffin University.

Nationwide Children’s athletic trainers are members of the National Athletic Trainers Association.
