Sandra J. Kuhn, director of education and industry outreach for the Ohio Farm Bureau Federation, has been selected by the Delaware County Agricultural Society to serve as the new general manager for the Delaware County Fair.

Kuhn will replace William C. “Bill” Lowe, who has served as fair manager for a total of 21 years, including the past three years.

“We are extremely excited to have Sandy join the Delaware County Fair,” added Don Howard, chair of the selection committee. “She has a tremendous amount of agricultural and business experience and we look forward to continuing the positive growth we have been experiencing.”

In March the voters of Delaware County approved a 3 percent hotel tax to improve the fairgrounds’ facility and infrastructure.

Kuhn holds master of business administration and master of science degrees from Ohio State University. She was previously the program specialist at the OSU South Centers in Piketon, Ohio.

She also served as an adjunct faculty member at Clark State Community College in Springfield, Ohio. She also worked for the River Valley Co-op, Mainscape Inc. and Countrymark Cooperative in Delaware.

“I look forward to returning to Delaware to serve as the fair manager,” noted Kuhn. “With the recent passing of the bed tax, it will provide the opportunity to address infrastructure needs and enhance the fairgrounds. It is an exciting time for the fair and fairgrounds and I can’t wait to be part of its growth and development.”

“The Delaware County Fair will be forever grateful for Bill Lowe,” noted Frank Reinhard, president of the Delaware County Agricultural Society. “He has elevated the fair and has put the fair in the position to hire such a successful leader as Sandy.”

The fair board will host a public reception on Friday, May 13, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the fairgrounds’ log cabin to honor Lowe and to welcome Kuhn.

The 2016 Delaware County Fair runs from Sept. 17 through Sept. 24 this year.
