Delaware police report:

A couple reported menacing text messages Monday morning at a residence on Presidential Way. The woman told police she and her boyfriend had been getting alarming text messages repeatedly over the last few months but didn’t know who they were from or why they were getting them. Police filed a report and officers are investigating.

A home on Hill Street was broken into Monday afternoon. The resident told officers he arrived home to find that an unknown person or persons had forcibly entered the residence through a back door. Officers went inside the home and found it ransacked. The owner reported close to $1,000 in cash was stolen and said he would be working to determine if anything else had been stolen. An investigation is pending.

A man was assaulted by an acquaintance Monday afternoon at an address on Bowtown Road. The man told police a man he knows entered his house without permission, claiming he owed him money, and then assaulted him. The victim requested a report be taken but declined criminal charges or an investigation. Police say the man had sustained minor injuries.

A shoplifting suspect was identified by police and Meijer loss prevention specialists. Police report a woman entered the store, grabbed items and went to the self-checkout but never scanned the items before leaving. The store gave police video evidence. An investigation is ongoing.
