Delaware County Farm Bureau will again host a “barbecue science workshop” on Sept. 5 from 1 to 5 p.m. in the animal science building at 2029 Fyffe Court, Columbus.

“This is our second barbecue workshop with the Ohio State University animal science department,” said Tim Barnes, president of the Delaware County Farm Bureau. “It’s a great opportunity to learn the science of barbecue from the experts.”

The hands-on event offers an insider’s look at gas and charcoal grilling, barbecuing and smoking. Ohio State professors will discuss how to use different methods to prepare a variety of proteins for family and friends, including lamb, beef, poultry and pork.

The event is open to Farm Bureau members. Tickets are $50 and reservations must be made by Aug. 28. For more information or to register, call the county office at 740-363-1613.

Barnes said he encourages attendees to register quickly. “It’s a very popular event and class size is limited,” he said.
