Bail was set at $20,000 for the third member of a group of teenagers charged after a robbery and shooting in Orange Township.

Kayle Marie Cantrell, 19, of Worthington, pleaded not guilty to robbery and theft charges before Delaware County Common Pleas Judge Everett Krueger Friday afternoon.

The robbery charge is a second-degree felony; the theft charge is a first-degree misdemeanor.

Assistant Delaware County Prosecutor Mark Sleeper told Krueger that Cantrell was part of a group of teens that began texting another group of teens and decided to meet up and fight. Sleeper said Cantrell — along with two men, Terrance D. Jewell II, 19, and Isaiah Steele, 19, both of Columbus — found the other group and assaulted them in the area of Blue Holly Drive in the early morning hours of April 13.

During the conflict, Steele shot and wounded 19-year-old Pierce Yurkoski-Gray with a handgun, prosecutors allege. Yurkoski-Gray has since been released from the hospital.

Court documents allege that Cantrell assisted in the robbery by hitting and kicking another victim, 18-year-old Riley Smittle, and taking her iPhone 6.

Krueger set Cantrell’s bail at $20,000 and scheduled her to stand trial with Jewell and Steele on June 21.

Jewell appeared in Delaware County Common Pleas Court Wednesday morning and he entered a not-guilty plea to charges of felonious assault, a first-degree felony; robbery, a second-degree felony; and theft, a first-degree misdemeanor.

Krueger set Jewell’s bail at $150,000.

Steele appeared in court on April 29 and entered a not-guilty plea to charges of felonious assault, a second-degree felony, which carries a firearm specification that could add additional prison time if Steele is convicted; improperly discharging a firearm at or into a habitation/in a school safety zone, a second-degree felony; receiving stolen property, a fourth-degree felony; and tampering with evidence, a third-degree felony.

Steele’s bail was set at $300,000 at his arraignment.

A 17-year-old girl and 19-year-old Marua Burlew were also injured and robbed in the incident, prosecutors said.

Steele, Jewell and Cantrell were in the Delaware County Jail Friday.
