A Delaware teenager was seriously injured Monday morning in a car-motorcycle crash on Coover Road.

Nathan Worthy, 18, of Delaware was operating a motorcycle on Coover Road just before 10:30 a.m. Monday when a car stopped at the end of the driveway at 500 Coover Road and attempted to turn left, state troopers said.

Troopers say Worthy’s westbound motorcycle collided with the car, which was driven by Peggy Smith, 57, and Worthy sustained serious injuries. Troopers did not report any injuries for Smith.

A medical helicopter landed at the nearby Buckeye Valley High School and transported Worthy to OSU Wexner Medical Center. Staff at Wexner were unable to provide a medical condition for Worthy Monday afternoon.

Troopers said Worthy was not wearing a helmet and witnesses reported he was traveling at an excessive speed, troopers said.

Witnesses told troopers that Worthy had been test-driving the motorcycle and had originally traveled east on Coover before turning around and heading west.

Troopers also responded to a traffic accident at the intersection of State Routes 61 and 656 in Kingston Township at 2:52 p.m. Monday. Troopers said one car went off the road and struck a tree.

Police scanner traffic indicated that the driver had been trapped in the vehicle. The driver was later flown to Riverside Methodist Hospital for treatment. Troopers were still investigating the crash Monday afternoon. No other information was available.
