The Delaware school board approved a number of staffing changes recently.

The board accepted the resignations of several employees last Tuesday, including:

• Carol Snyder, an executive administrative assistant for the district.

• Marti Lloyd, an administrative assistant at Hayes High School.

• Randi McDavid, a cook/cashier at Dempsey Middle School.

• Margie Niemela, a bus driver.

The board approved several hirings, including four cooks/cashiers, 14 after-school detention monitors, six student techs for the Hayes auditorium, and 10 classified substitute employees.

The board also approved the employment of six Delaware Hayes High School students to work as the tech crew for the Hayes Auditorium. The students will be paid $8.10 an hour.

The board approved a large number of supplemental contracts for extracurricular activities, including Michael Golden as head football coach at Hayes.

The board approved two contracts: one with Delaware Speech and Hearing Center for speech-language pathology services for the preschool program and one contract with Step by Step Academy Inc. for the provision of special education services for a student with a disability. Both contracts will be for the 2015-16 school year.

The board also approved more dates on the upcoming calendar, including no school on Sept. 24 and 25 for the Delaware County Fair, which begins Sept. 19 and concludes on Sept. 26. There will be no school on Oct. 16 for a teacher professional development day.

The board approved two student trips: a trip to Cocoa Beach, Florida, for Space Coast softball spring training for the Hayes varsity softball team from March 27 to April 3, and a trip for the Hayes High School band to perform at Walt Disney World from March 28 to April 2. The trips would fall during the district’s spring break.
