Big Walnut High School junior Gabby Adair has been selected to serve as the Future Farmers of America District 6 president.

“There are a total of 10 districts within the Ohio FFA, each with their own set of officer teams,” Big Walnut ag science teacher Jeff Stimmell said late last week. “As the District 6 president for the 2016-17 school year, Gabby will work with six other individuals from schools within the district on new ideas to help improve each school’s FFA chapter.”

Stimmell, who also serves as the Big Walnut/DACC FFA chapter adviser, said Adair was selected to serve as district president from among the 38 schools in District 6.

“We’re super proud of Gabby for all of her hard work and accomplishments,” Stimmell said. “To be selected, Gabby completed an application and interviewed with a committee of teachers and state officers to be selected. I knew Gabby had a good chance at getting elected because she is such a dynamic person, but it was impressive that she was selected to be the president.”

Stimmell said the selection process selects the candidate with the highest score as president, second highest as vice president, then secretary, treasurer, reporter and sentinel.

There are 24,800 FFA members in 308 chapters throughout Ohio.
