Columbus man indicted in rape of OWU student

A Columbus man was indicted on charges of rape and sexual battery Friday by a Delaware County grand jury.

Indicted was Brandon Michael Ward, 29.

Delaware police report they were called after 21-year-old Ohio Wesleyan University student checked herself in at Grady Memorial Hospital and alleged that she had been raped and sexually assaulted by Ward on June 24.

Police allege that Ward also stole $60 from the student’s dorm room after the assault.

An arraignment for Ward has not yet been scheduled in Delaware County Common Pleas Court. Ward was in the Delaware County Jail Friday.

The following individuals were also indicted by the grand jury:

• Bruce Durr, of Westerville, on 12 counts of securities fraud, a third-degree felony; and 12 counts of theft, a fourth-degree felony.

• Sebastian B. Bollens, at-large, on two felony counts of failure to comply with an order or signal of a police officer; a charge of menacing by stalking, a fourth-degree felony; and a charge of violating a protection order, a first-degree misdemeanor.

• Edward M. Green, of Powell, on three counts of burglary, a second-degree felony; four counts of theft (three are fifth-degree felonies and one is a first-degree misdemeanor); two counts of receiving stolen property, fifth-degree felonies; a charge of identity fraud, a fifth-degree felony; and four counts of attempted burglary, second-degree felonies.

• Justin L. Hawkins, of Columbus, on a charge of breaking and entering, a fifth-degree felony; a charge of theft, a first-degree misdemeanor; and a charge of criminal damaging, a second-degree felony.

• Michael L. Crate, of Columbus, on two counts of theft. One is a fifth-degree felony and the other is a first-degree misdemeanor.

• Amy M. Hare, of Columbus, on a charge of tampering with evidence, a third-degree felony; and a charge of receiving stolen property, a fifth-degree felony.

• Justin A. Trago, of Columbus, on a charge of breaking and entering and two counts of theft, all fifth-degree felonies.

• Dennis M. Hurd, of Columbus, on a charge of breaking and entering and two counts of theft, all fifth-degree felonies. An arraignment has been set for Aug. 3 at 10 a.m.

• James D. Dixon, of Lewis Center, on a charge of forgery and a charge of receiving stolen property, both fifth-degree felonies.

• Emily R. Ward, of Ostrander, on a charge of theft, a fifth-degree felony.

• Christopher S. Weiner, of Columbus, on a charge of menacing by stalking, a fourth-degree felony; and a charge of violating a protection order, a fifth-degree felony.

• Dustin E. Ohm, of Gahanna, on two counts of forgery and a charge of theft, all fifth-degree felonies.

• Kayla R. Stephens, of Columbus, on a charge of theft and a charge of forgery, both fifth-degree felonies.

• Sally R. Ruckel, of Marengo, on a charge of tampering with evidence, a third-degree felony.

• Timothy N. Sarge, of 2000 U.S. 23 North, Delaware, on a charge of receiving stolen property, a fifth-degree felony.

• Samantha Cantrell, of Lucasville, Ohio, on a charge of theft, a fifth-degree felony.
