Samantha Rammelsberg, daughter of customer development manager Steve Rammelsberg and a 2016 graduate of Big Walnut High School, has been awarded the the Albert W. Vontz Jr. Memorial Scholarship for all her volunteer work.

The Albert W. Vontz Scholarship, an annual award, began in 2007 in honor of Heidelberg Distributing’s 70th anniversary. Since then, the company has awarded 58 scholarships totaling over $100,000.

One scholarship is awarded for each city in which Heidelberg Distributing has an operating facility: Cincinnati, Cleveland, Columbus, Dayton, Lorain, Evendale, Toledo, Youngstown and Hebron, Kentucky. In order to be eligible for the award students must be a dependent of a full-time Heidelberg Distributing, Ohio Valley Wine and Beer or a Wine Trends Inc. employee. The scholarship is based on community volunteer service.

Samantha volunteered at Big Walnut High as an aide for multi-handicapped students. In the fall, she will attend the University of Cincinnati and, with the goal of becoming an occupational therapist, is going to major in psychology.
