Woman killed in Sunday collision on State Route 521

A Delaware woman was killed Sunday night after she was struck while walking on State Route 521.

Delaware police report that at approximately 11:43 p.m. Dreama McGlothlin, 48, of Radnor, was traveling north on State Route 521 in her 2002 Ford Escape and had just passed the intersection with Ashburn Drive when she struck Erika Ell, 29, of 60 Maple St., Delaware, who was walking North on 521.

Police report that McGlothlin stopped a short distance later and called police. Ell was pronounced dead a the scene when medics arrived minutes later.

McGlothlin told police that she did not see anyone in the road.

Police report that Ell was walking to a residence with another woman, Divanna Gibson, 23, of Canton, after their vehicle had broken down at a business on U.S. 36/State Route 37.

The police report indicates that the roadway is unlit and the weather was clear at the time of the collision.

McGlothlin and Gibson were not injured.

According to the crash report, blood samples were taken and will be tested for drugs and alcohol.

The investigation is ongoing and no charges have been filed.

The Delaware County Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management report this is the 14th traffic fatality in Delaware County this year and the 6th pedestrian fatality.
