A Delaware man entered a guilty plea to three counts of pandering sexually oriented material involving a minor, second-degree felonies.

Michael Blankenship, 32, of 5456 State Route 521, Delaware, was indicted on July 1 and charged with five counts of pandering sexually oriented material involving a minor and three counts of illegal use of a minor in nudity-oriented material or performance, which are all second-degree felonies.

He was scheduled to stand trial on Sept. 27, but on Sept. 20 a change of plea hearing was scheduled because he and his attorney, O. Ross Long had reached a plea agreement with prosecutors.

According to court documents, the agreement was that Blankenship would plead guilty to three counts of the pandering sexually oriented material involving a minor charges and the remaining charges would be dismissed.

At a hearing on Sept. 21, Blankenship entered a guilty plea to the three charges and the remaining charges were dismissed.

Judge Gormley accepted the plea agreement and scheduled for Oct. 24. Additionally the agreement requires Blankenship to register as a Tier II sex-offender.

Blankenship was in the Delaware County Jail Monday afternoon.

Court documents state that Blankenship downloaded several pieces of child pornography between October 2014 and October 2015 and over the same period did “photograph … create, direct, produce or transfer any material or performance that shows the minor in a state of nudity.”

The indictment lists the names of the videos downloaded by Blankenship. The titles imply the videos depict children as young as toddlers and as old as 10 being victimized.
