Teachers’ agreement on Olentangy BOE agenda

The Olentangy Board of Education will consider a one-year contract for the district’s teachers at its meeting today.

The collective bargaining agreement with the Olentangy Teachers Association’s contract would run from July 1, 2017 through June 30, 2018.

Krista Davis, director of communications for the district, said getting into specifics of the agreement would be putting the cart before the horse until the board voted on it at the meeting.

But Davis said the agreement was a one-year contract, not an extension of the three-year agreement in 2012, which was extended earlier this year. The proposed agreement included no changes to health insurance, while there were some salary adjustments, she said.

Savings from the agreement were not available, Davis added.

OTA represents 1,294 teachers in the district.

The board will enter into an executive session to discuss the agreement before it make its decision. The meeting will take place at the Olentangy Administrative Office, 814 Shanahan Road, 6 p.m. in the board conference room.
