Coughlin Crossing on council agenda

It’s business as usual for Delaware City Council at its first meeting after the election when the road income tax levy failed.

More than 60 percent of Delaware voters voted against raising the income tax to 2 percent from 1.85 percent to address needs of its transportation system, according to the Delaware County Board of Elections. But today’s agenda focuses on contractual agreements and development requests.

Council will have the second reading of an agreement with Heritage Ohio, the parent organization of Main Street Delaware, which is known for putting on First Fridays.

In other business, council will have the first reading of rezoning requests from Delaware Development Plan for an 80-acre site located between U.S. Route 23 and Stratford Road, north of Meeker Way. The developer plans to transform the site into Coughlin’s Crossing, which will have residential, retail and commercial uses. The Planning Commission unanimously voted to recommend the project to council at its last meeting.

In addition, council will consider a resolution to annex more than 20 acres of the Delaware Development Plan’s site. This is the first step of a lengthy process with the county government, according to a fact sheet from the city. Council will have opportunity to accept or reject the final annexation at a later date.

Council will meet at city hall, 1 S. Sandusky St., 7 p.m. in council chambers.
