Curbside yard waste collection ending

Curbside yard waste collection will end for the season Friday, Dec. 16.

After this date, any residual yard waste will be collected during the annual Christmas tree and holiday greens collection period which is scheduled for Monday, Jan. 9 through Friday, Feb. 3, 2017. Curbside yard waste collection resume again in April.

Second Ward dining center open

SourcePoint operates seven social dining centers throughout Delaware County, including one in the Second Ward Community Center at 50 Ross St. in Delaware. The Second Ward dining center is located in the southwest section of the City of Delaware, well-situated for residents who live between Park Avenue and London Road. All Delaware County residents age 60 and older are welcome.

The Second Ward dining center is open every Tuesday and Thursday from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Reservations are required, and can be made by calling 740-203-2432.

SourcePoint’s dining centers are a key component of the organization’s nutrition program, and encourage older adults to engage in their community while enjoying a hot, nutritious meal. Dining centers also provide regular educational programs on nutrition, health, and topics such as Medicare; special celebrations; and social and recreational opportunities.

The Second Ward dining center opened in October 2015, and was constructed with the support of a grant through the Hunger Alliance, facilitated by United Way. Other dining centers are available in Ashley, Delaware, and Sunbury. SourcePoint’s nutrition programs are funded in part by the Central Ohio Area Agency on Aging.
