The Ohio Highway Patrol is investigating the circumstances that lead to the death of a woman on Interstate 71 near the Delaware County rest areas Thursday night.

At approximately 9:33 p.m., the Delaware Post of the patrol responded to reports of a person lying near the southbound lanes of I- 71. When troopers arrived on scene they discovered the woman was dead.

She was later identified as Elizabeth Kurish, 60, of Lorain, Ohio. A car registered to Kurish was found parked at the northbound rest area.

A preliminary evaluation of evidence from the scene indicates Kurish was struck by an unknown motor vehicle. At this time, no witnesses have been identified.
