Eastside Mission Church conducts toy drive

The Eastside Mission Church is gearing up for its fourth annual Christmas toy drive from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 21.

“We’re planning to raise 1,000 new toys,” said pastor Donnie Akers. “We’ve got about 450 toys right now from the church congregation, so we’re praying to get more on Saturday.”

The new, unwrapped toys will be donated to children at the Common Ground Free Store, Family Promise House, Nationwide Children’s Hospital, and in the community.

Last year, the church received 800 new toys to distribute.

“We want to help the children have a merry Christmas,” Akers said.

The church is at 32 Joy Ave. Volunteers will unload the toys from your car.
