Delaware County Commissioners approved the first phase of the Olentangy Local Schools sanitary sewer amendment.

Mike Frommer, director of sanitary engineering, approached county commissioners Monday.

“We are requesting an amendment to the agreement to reduce the capacity unit equivalents for the fourth high school,” Mike Frommer said. “When you start looking at the number of days they are there in school and the usage of the staff and the facilities, we feel this is a more accurate reflection of what is going compared to the other high schools.”

Commissioner Gary Merrell expressed concern about possible population changes in the future.

“Population changes as it grows the needs will be great at that point,” Merrell said. “How do we deal with that?”

“This will be consistent with the other high schools,” Frommer said. “When they start that school it won’t have 1,600 students there.”

In other business commissioners approved:

• A transfer of appropriation for the regional sewer district to replace a valve. He said the replacement was to originally be done by a contractor. “Looking at it we feel we can do the work in house,” Frommer said. “I think we’ll actually do it for less than what we had budgeted.”

• Frommer also recommended the approval of the sanitary sewer improvement plans for the Center at Powell Crossing. “The plans have met our requirements and we recommend approval,” he said.

• Chris Bauserman, county engineer, requested a re-bid date for improvements to a bridge and culvert on Klondike Road.

“This a large culvert, small bridge, structure on Klondike Road in Scioto Township,” Bauserman said. “It was damaged through high water last year.”

Bauserman said his department received a partial grant from Ohio Public Works Commission to replace it with emergency funds.

“We bid this project and the bids came in all over estimate,” Bauserman said. “We have adjusted the estimate and would like to go back out to bid.”

• Approved a contract of sale and purchase of land from Marcus and Julie Wuebker for the Old 3C Highway project at a price of $15,635.

“We negotiated a price near our original appraisal,” Bauserman said. “I’m recommending approval.”
