Liberty Township Trustees Monday night approved the equipping of fire vehicles, as well as food trucks for park events, the purchase of road crack sealer and made corrections to the township’s health insurance cash in lieu program.

Fiscal Officer Nancy Denutte told trustees a resolution was needed to correct the cash in lieu of the township’s insurance program for the non-union members’ monthly payments.

She said some of the employees had brought the mistakes to her attention.

“Some of them were off by two dollars,” Denutte said.

“Annually some are off by a few hundred bucks,” said trustee Tom Mitchell. He aded, “These correction aren’t really that major.”

Trustees approved the resolution.

The fire department asked trustees for upgrades to the department’s fire prevention trailer, which is used as an educational tool at public events.

“The trailer is in need of exterior and interior upgrades,” said Matt Huffman, administrator.”

Fire Chief Tom O’Brien said to make it more visible to the public the trailer will receive a graphic design wrap. Trustees authorized the repairs and upgrades to the trailer not to exceed $8,156 and the digital graphic wrap is not to exceed $6,585.

“I like the idea of a wrap on the outside,” Mitchell said. “When this shows up to events I want this to be something attractive for people to come to.”

Trustees declared eight items of fire equipment as obsolete and a surplus to the township. The items will be listed and sold.

One item is the old Emergency-One Quint truck that was recently replaced by the new 2016 pumper fire engine from the Sutphen Corporation last year.

“That will make some smaller department a very nice truck,” O’Brien said. “We’ll probably get a very decent amount of money out of it.”

Trustees also approved the work to equip two Ford trucks for the fire department. The vehicles were purchased in February from Byers Auto Group, Columbus, for $64,846.

Both vehicles are 2017 vehicles to be used by the fire chief and the battalion chiefs. Both vehicles were budgeted for in the 2017 budget and are expected to be delivered near the end of April.

In other business trustees:

• Authorized the purchase of road crack sealant which is not to exceed $30,000 from the Ohio Department of Transportation Cooperative Purchasing Program for road repairs.

• Authorized the repairs of Seldom Seen Road not to exceed $4,400 payable to Miley Excavating of Delaware. The work is to repair and replace a culvert, which is a drainage pipe under the roadway.

• Approved a number of credit cards for those in executive positions in the fire department.

• Approved contracts with Dan’s Deli to provide Havener Park with food concessions during events and a contract with the Central Ohio Foodtruck Association to organize and schedule food trucks at Liberty Park.
