A July 12 fundraiser is planned for Sunbury Mayor Tommy Hatfield’s daughter, Sydney, who was recently diagnosed with glioblastoma, a rare and inoperable brain cancer.

Prayer chains have been formed, and fundraising has been underway to help the family with medical expenses that accrue as she battle this disease.

Lesli Kintner is serving as treasurer of a committee to raise funds for Sydney’s medical expenses. On Sunday, July 12, “Sydney’s Soldiers” will hold a fundraiser from 1 to 7:30 p.m. at Autumn Lakes Campground.

The day includes live music by Southwynd, bingo, a silent auction, a live auction and a raffle. There will also be paddleboat rentals, corn hole, a dunk tank, bounce houses, children’s midway games, and a public figure pie-in-the-face game.

The family-oriented event is open to the public and will feature a hog roast. Dinner tickets are $10 and include dinner, drink and dessert.

Activity tickets are $20 for 25 tickets; each activity will take one or two tickets.

For more information, to donate auction items or to make a donation to the Sydney’s Soldiers fundraiser, call Kintner at 614-206-5020.

Autumn Lakes Campground is at 8644 Porter Central Road north of Sunbury.
