The associates of Walmart’s Delaware store were praised Friday for their hard work by store managers during a grand re-opening.

“They accomplished great things here,” said Andrew Caldwell, store manager. Caldwell is new to Delaware coming from the Toledo area.

Caldwell said associates worked a combined total of 55,000 hours to complete renovations giving the store a fresh new look. The majority of the detail work was done during the night.

“The biggest areas were the jewelry and electronics areas,” Caldwell said.

A complete floor replacement was done, as well as adding a new family restroom and digital technology to the kiosk and check-outs.

Holly Quaine, Delaware Area Chamber of Commerce president, said she is a regular shopper at the store for her personal purchases as well as chamber items.

The celebration was attended by local and regional management teams who said associates were the most important people in their company.

Delaware’s Walmart at 1760 Columbus Pike has a fresh new look thanks to associates, said Andrew Caldwell, manager, during Friday’s grand re-opening and ribbon cutting.
