City events this week

The city of Delaware will have up to two public meeting this week at City Hall, 1 S. Sandusky St., in council chambers. Delaware City Council will meet at 5:30 p.m. Monday to interview candidates for its vacant 3rd Ward seat.

The Parks and Recreation Advisory Board meeting for Tuesday was canceled.

Historical Society event slated

The Delaware County Historical Society will have images and information about The Delaware Chair Company at the Barn at Stratford, 2690 Stratford Road, in Delaware 7 p.m. Thursday. The community program will feature the Society’s collection of the company’s products with antiques experts providing their analysis about their characteristics and value.

Attendees are encouraged to bring a chair or another object associated with Delaware County to the program for Mr. Bemiller to discuss. The program is free but donations are requested to help offset the Society’s operating expenses.

Library to host writers’ group

The Delaware County District Library will have its writers’ group at the Orange Branch, 7171 Gooding Blvd., 7 p.m. Wednesday. There will be light refreshments and the unveiling of the first published work of the Orange Branch Writers’ Group with reading from some of the anthology contributors.

Street sweeping scheduled

Citywide street sweeping begins Monday and will require about eight weeks to complete. Weather permitting, sweeping activity will occur between 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Signage will be posted at key entrances to the area undergoing sweeping activity to alert motorists and residents of the activity.

• Vehicles should not park on the street during activity hours so the sweeper can reach the curb.

• Do not blow or rake leaves or yard waste into the roadway in advance, as this will inhibit the sweeping process.

Interchange work scheduled

Final follow-up construction activities will take place at the U.S. 23-Sandusky St-Pennsylvania Ave interchange. The activity will require the closure of the U.S. 23 northbound left turn lane. The closure will occur Wednesday evening through Thursday. Signage alerting motorists of the closure and to utilize the William St exit will be posted.
