City meetings this week

Delaware City Council will meet at City Hall, 1 S. Sandusky St., 6:30 p.m. Monday. But the Board of Zoning Appeals meeting for Wednesday is canceled.

Strand Theatre offers free kid shows

The Strand Theatre kicks off its summer kids shows with a showing of “The Angry Birds” movie on Tuesday. Summer kids shows are at 11 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. on Tuesdays until after Aug. 1. Donations are encouraged for the desginated charity. Movie goers are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items for People In Need this week. Repairs set for U.S. 23 at Mingo curve

The city of Delaware will be making emergency repairs to the concrete median barrier on U.S. 23 at the Mingo Curve between Monday and Thursday, weather permitting, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. This work will require lane closures on U.S. 23 continuing both north and south of the work area. Traffic control signage will assist motorists around the project area. For information call 740-203-1810.

City Hall clock tower work begins this week

Cleaning and painting the City Hall clock tower begins Monday. This work will necessitate the closure of the west sidewalk. The project is scheduled to require a week to complete.

New city projects start this week

The following is the right-of-way construction activities that will start this week:

Emergency pavement repairs at U.S. 23 and 42 will take place 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Tuesday through Wednesday. Lane closures and two one-way lane traffic with possible delays is to be expected.

Accessible pedestrian signal installation at William and Sandusky streets intersection will take place 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through June 30. Pedestrian crossing activity may be affected during the process.

Safewalk repairs will take place in the city’s 2nd Ward on Monday, prompting some sidewalk use restrictions.
