Locally grown food, live music and farm tours will highlight “An Evening on the Farm” at Methodist Theological School in Ohio. The fundraiser will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on July 19 on the MTSO campus, located at 3081 Columbus Pike in Delaware.

Tickets are $75 per person, of which $50 is a tax-deductible donation. Registration is available at www.mtso.edu/evening or by calling Leigh Precise at 740-362-3121.

“An Evening on the Farm” offers guests an opportunity to learn about MTSO’s initiatives around sustainability and food justice, including academic classes around ecology, solar power, geothermal heating and cooling, and Seminary Hill Farm, which is in its fourth year of providing food, inspiration and education to the community. President Jay Rundell also will outline plans for new steps and partnerships as the school extends its reach.

Guests will enjoy heavy hors d’oeuvres featuring fresh food from MTSO’s Seminary Hill Farm and other local providers. Members of the farm staff will lead tours, and representatives of the faculty and student body who came to MTSO specifically to engage ecotheology as part of their teaching and learning will share their stories. Guitarist John Morgan will provide music.

“In a time that calls for people to step forward for the good of the planet, MTSO has become a beacon,” Rundell said. “This school attracts — and sends into service — leaders who are committed to the stewardship of the earth. We’re invite our neighbors to be part of ‘An Evening on the Farm’ and help our beacon to shine even brighter.”
