Union-Heffner intersection closing Monday

Columbia Gas is closing the intersection of Union Street and Heffner Street, between Fountain Avenue and Sandusky Street, Monday, July 17 through August 14. Columbia Gas will be boring under U.S. 23 in that area. A detour will be posted to assist motorists around the project area. Public questions may be directed to the Customer Service Request Line at 740-203-1810.

OHS Class of 1967 committee to meet

A committee meeting for the Olentangy High School Class of 1967’s 50th anniversary is scheduled for Tuesday, July 25 at 1 p.m. at Harry Buffalo’s, 6150 S. Sunbury Road. The reunion is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 9at Harry Buffalo’s. Tickets cost $25 per person. Rserve your ticket by emailing [email protected].

Brats N’ Bluegrass July 28

Warrensburg United Methodist Church is hosting Brats ‘N Bluegrass from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, July 28. Attendees can enjoy a complimentary dinner and the music of the Redeye String Band. The church is located at 1025 State Route 257 South, between State Route 37 and U.S. Route 36.

4-H garage sale this weekend

The Delaware County 4-H garage sale runs from noon to 5 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday in the Junior Fair Building at the Delaware County Fairgrounds. Starting at noon on Saturday, all the items you can put in a bag will be available for only $2 (bags provided) and all other items, except those on the special table, will be half price. Items range from children’s clothing to a complete fish tank set-up to various tools.

Safety Day set for July 19

Recreation Unlimited’s 2017 Safety Day is scheduled from 9:30 a.m. to noon on Wednesday, July 19 at 7700 Piper Road, Ashley. Delaware County Emergency Management is coordinating the event for campers with special needs. Recreation Unlimited and EMA have been partners in this event since 2002.

Jazz At The Amp continues

Jazz at the Amp, a free jazz series, runs Saturdays in July and August in the Westerville Amphitheater, Alum Creek Park, 221 W. Main St., Westerville. At 6:30 p.m. Saturday, local fusion band NexLevel will play, followed by former Rippingtons saxophonist Jeff Kashiwa at 7:15 p.m.

Remaining concerts in the series are July 29, Tommy Wade Orchestra at 4:30 p.m., Rick Brunetto Orchestra at 6:30 p.m.; Aug. 5, local bassist Mac Flava at 6:30 p.m., guitarist Matt Marshak at 7:15 p.m.; Aug. 12, saxophonist Deon Yates at 6:30 p.m., trumpeter Cindy Bradley at 7:15 p.m.; Aug. 19, Nini Love’s JazzySide Quintet at noon, Tim Dvorkin Quartet at 1:15 p.m., Rendition at 2:30 p.m., vocalist Nichole Davis at 3:45 p.m., Deeptones at 5 p.m., saxophonist Paul Taylor at 6:30 p.m.

Busy time for Preservation Parks

Folk Songs Around the Fire is scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday at Gallant Farm, 2150 Buttermilk Hill Road, Delaware. Bring a musical instrument – or just your voice – and some songs to share for a night of music around the fire. Listeners welcome. Free, all ages. No reservations required.

All Aboard for Railroad Fun from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday and noon to 4 p.m. Sunday at Sandel Legacy Trail, 168 S. Vernon St., Sunbury. Visitors can watch model trains (in HO scale) travel through a miniature village, during the open house hosted by the Delaware County Model Railroaders Group. Visitors also can learn about the history of railroading in America.

Benefit in the Barn is back

Benefit in the Barn is a celebration of agriculture and music with proceeds benefitting partners of the Delaware County Hunger Alliance. It’s scheduled for 6 p.m. on Aug. 19 at Dawson Farms, 2831 Bowtown Road, Delaware. It includes a special performance by the Central Ohio Symphony plus dinner catered by City Barbeque and a cash bar. DACC Board meets July 20

The Delaware Area Career Center Board of Education will meet at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 20 at the South Campus, 4565 Columbus Pike. Meeting agendas are posted on the DACC website www.delawareareacc.org.

Ulery Road closing for work

The Delaware County Engineer’s Office reports that Ulery Road in Porter Township will be closed for 12 days due to construction work. The road will be shut down July 17-28 as crews conduct a culvert replacement project. The stretch of Ulery Road between Trimmer Road and Olive Green Road will be closed.

Cheshire Road closed for construction

The Delaware County Engineer reports that part of Cheshire Road will be closed until Tuesday, Aug. 15 for a construction project. The stretch of Cheshire from Tara Glen Drive to Gregory Road will be closed to traffic during the road-widening project, which is being conducted by Park Enterprise Construction.

U.S. 23-Hills Miller work ends July 20

The estimated completion date of the U.S. 23 and Hills Miller Road intersection project is now July 20. The postponement is due to private utility company delays relocating gas utility lines. The Hills Miller Road closure from U.S. 23 to Bruce Road will remain in place until July 20, as well. Traffic is being detoured utilizing Coover Road and Troy Road.
