Columbus woman killed in crash over weekend

A Columbus woman was killed Saturday night after a crash on U.S. 36/State Route 37 East and Davidson Lane.

City of Delaware Police report that Bethany S. Bunting, 36, of Columbus, was traveling east on 36/37 in a Saturn SUV around 10:18 p.m. when the SUV struck the side of a semi-truck that was turning east onto 36/37 from Davidson Lane. Police report that the initial investigation indicates that the SUV ran a red light at the intersection and collided with the truck.

Police report that Bunting was pronounced dead on the scene.

The driver of the semi-truck, Stephen A. Wion, 66, of South Charleston, Ohio, was not injured in the crash.

According to the crash report, police suspect that Bunting may have used drugs. Officers are awaiting the results of a drug test.

The report also states that Bunting was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

The crash remains under investigation and no charges have been filed at this time.
