The Delaware County Historical Society has two events on the program calendar in August.

However, instead of being offered free to an unlimited number of participants like the programs in recent months, both will require registration prior to the events.

The first program, Stroll Down Sandusky Street, is scheduled for Wednesday, Aug. 9. Society board members Benny Shoults and Roger Koch will lead a tour of the history and architecture of the north two blocks of Sandusky Street from Central to William, discussing how the downtown developed from 1810 through today.

The tour, which is sponsored by Fidelity Federal Savings and Loan, will start at 7 p.m. at the Delaware County Courthouse, 91 N. Sandusky St., and should last about an hour and a half. Tickets are $15 for adults, $5 for children ages 6 to 17.

House Research 101, a special hands-on program, will be offered on Thursday, Aug. 10 at 7 p.m. to help Delaware County residents research the history of their property. Librarian and volunteers will work with individuals to access information in the many resources available at the Cryder Research Library, 157 E. William St. Advanced registration is required and there is a limit of 10 properties; the registration fee for each property is $25.

Registration for both events can be done online at Eventbrite.com (use the search tool with location set to Delaware County Ohio to access both event pages). The registration deadline for each is two days prior to the event date. For more information, email [email protected] or call 740-369-3831, extension 3.

The Delaware County Historical Society is a non-profit organization whose mission is to promote, preserve and sustain interest in the history of Delaware County.
