Truck driver dies in crash on SR 37 in Scioto Twp.

A Bellefontaine man was killed in a single-vehicle crash Monday morning on state Route 37 in Scioto Township.

The Delaware Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol reported Monday afternoon that troopers are still investigating a single commercial vehicle fatal crash that occurred at approximately 7:07 a.m. Monday on state Route 37, east of Brindle Road, in Delaware County.

Troopers report that Glen G. Buettner, 68, was driving a white 2007 Freightliner tractor-trailer westbound on state Route 37 and failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway, traveled off the right side of the roadway, overturned onto its right side and struck a utility pole.

Buettner was pronounced dead at the scene by the Delaware County Coroner’s Office. Troopers reported that Buettner was not wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash. Buettner’s next of kin has been notified, according to the patrol.

Alcohol/drug use is not suspected to be a factor in the crash.

The crash was still under investigation Monday afternoon.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office, City of Delaware Fire & EMS, Delaware County EMS, Scioto Fire & EMS, Tri-Township Fire & EMS, Delaware County Dog Warden, Survival Flight, Ohio Department of Transportation and Ohio Edison.
