Potential Genoa zoning position open

Due to a term expiration, the Genoa Township Zoning Commission may have a potential seat available for appointment by Genoa Township trustees.

Township Administrator Paul Wise said zoning commission member Bill Jackson’s term is expiring, and Jackson has not indicated if he would serve another term.

The term would expire on March 31, 2021.

The township’s department of development and zoning, on behalf of the trustees, will accept applications for the zoning commission vacancy through 4:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 26. Applications can be obtained from the township administration and zoning office or on the township’s website — genoatwp.com.

Members of the commission are responsible for providing recommendations to trustees on zoning matters, such as re-zonings, land developments, zoning amendments and the township’s comprehensive plan. They are expected to be (or become) familiar with the township’s zoning resolution as well as general zoning and planning laws and principles.

Members of the zoning commission are expected to attend at least one regularly scheduled meeting a month, as well as any other special meetings and/or training sessions; and may be assigned to serve on special committees as necessary.

Members of the commission may be compensated at the discretion of trustees. Current compensation is $60 per meeting.

Members of the commission must be a township resident.
