A Delaware woman was rescued by city firefighters early Friday morning after her Prospect Street house caught fire.

Fire officials have not yet released the name of the woman living at the 34 Prospect St. home but reported that she was rescued just three minutes after firefighters arrived. The woman was reportedly visible while standing in a second-floor window.

Crews used ladders to rescue the woman before transporting her to Grady Memorial Hospital for treatment.

Officials said the fire started in the first-floor bedroom at the rear of the house and said the cause of the fire had not yet been determined.

Firefighters had extinguished the fire by 6:44 a.m. and estimate about $25,000 in damage was done.

Four fire engines and two ladder units responded to the scene along with paramedics.

The residents were put in contact with the American Red Cross for assistance.

Firefighters were dispatched at 6:24 a.m.
