Light Up a Life event Sunday

Grady Memorial Hospital’s annual “Light Up a Life” event will take place at 7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 6.

This year, the Doherty family is being honored after losing matriarch Sharon Doherty to cancer this year.

The Doherty family is being honored because they were the “epitome of what hospice is all about,” said Suzie Miller, the nurse who took care of Sharon Doherty.

“I also wanted to pay tribute to Sharon herself,” Miller said. “She is one of the most gracious patients that I have had, and you could tell she demonstrated that her whole life because her family was so community-minded and caring.”

The event takes place in the lower level of the medical office building.

The Delaware Choir will be there to sing, a harpist will play, and names of all the honorees will be read.

The people attending will then be able to hang an ornament on the tree in honor of their loved ones who have passed away. The event concludes with the family of honor lighting the tree and Christmas carols being sung.

Community members can purchase ornaments for the tree at: https://foundation.ohiohealth.com/luld.
