Olentangy’s girls volleyball team picked up its second straight win to start the season Tuesday, knocking off host Westerville Central in three sets.
The Braves had their hands full in the first, slipping away with a slim 25-23 win, but cruised down the stretch thanks to back-to-back 25-15 wins in the second and third.
“It was a great team win for us,” Olentangy coach Michelle Mimna said. “We served 93 percent tonight, which was huge, and we had 64 digs … effectively controlling Maryland commit Katie Myers from Central.”
Sammy Diamond led the charge with nine kills to go with a pair of blocks. Other Olentangy standouts included Sarah Hansel, who finished with six kills and three blocks; Lauren Judge, who complied six kills and two blocks; and Zoe Miller, who finished with a team-best 17 digs.
•Delaware Christian was sharp in its season opener, outlasting visiting Ridgedale 26-24, 25-21, 25-16.
The Eagles were led by Erin McCullough, who finished with 16 kills in the win. Other standouts included Abbey Evans, who finished with eight kills; and Rachel Kirby, who collected five kills to complement her team-leading 39 assists.
