Buckeye Valley cruised to its second straight win to start the season, blanking visiting Marion Harding 6-0 Thursday afternoon.

The Barons (2-0-0) all but ended things before spectators even settled into their seats, putting three goals on the board in the game’s first 10 minutes.

Sam Scharff scored off a feed from Nathan Chwalik in the second minute, Zach Fathbruckner made it 2-0 in the fifth and Scharff found the back of the net for a second time in the 10th.

“Obviously, we came out very strong,” BV coach Eric Staley said. “The game became very physical after about 15 minutes, but we kept our heads and played our game.”

Scharff made it 4-0 when he completed his hat trick just 13 minutes into the game, and Mitch Rotondo and Alex Gallina smoothed out the scoring summary with second-half tallies, with Gallina’s being the first of his young career.

BV’s Nick Lyons finished with three saves to notch his second straight shutout in goal.
