Anthony Golden rushed for 71 yards and a touchdown, Chris Crumb scored on a pair of powerful runs and Drew Batt hauled in seven passes covering 171 yards as Olentangy rolled to a season-opening 38-6 win over visiting Westerville South Friday in Lewis Center.
Junior quarterback Deeb Haber had an efficient night through the air, completing 16 of his 27 passes for 299 yards and a touchdown.
The game was never really in doubt, as Olentangy coupled the steady offensive output with dominant defense en route to a 28-0 halftime edge.
The Braves (1-0), who finished with 410 yards of total offense — 299 through the air and 111 on the ground, held the Wildcats (0-1) to just 236 yards in all.
South quarterback Lincoln Flood, who was harassed behind the line of scrimmage all night long, was picked off four times while completing just 10 of his 24 passes for 123 yards and a touchdown. Devan Wade led South on the ground, covering 69 yards in his 14 attempts.
Olentangy’s Seth O’Neill finished with two of the interceptions while Alex Draime and Nick Tarpey had the others. The Braves also recovered a fumble in the win.
