LIMA — The West Ohio Food Bank held its first Summer Slam raffle Aug. 2, and the organization is pleased with the result.
More than 1,500 tickets were sold during the event. A total of 75 prizes were raffled during the day, with several winning multiple prizes. Two of the multiple prize winners donated almost $5,000 of their cash winnings back to the food bank.
The food bank will hold another raffle next year with the hopes of raising the number of sponsors from 18 to 32, as well as increasing the total prize package value to over $100,000. The food bank will also incorporate more attractions, events and games into the day’s activities, with the goal of making the raffle the food bank’s largest annual fundraiser.
