August “Gus” Valentino Govoni

August “Gus” Valentino Govoni of Centerburg gave the gift of life in spite of his tragic death.

He was the precious child of Adam Govoni of Sunbury and Ashley Eakin of Centerburg and died Wednesday (Oct. 14, 2009) at Children’s Hospital in Columbus as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

Born on April 21, 2007 in Westerville, he was a bundle of activity and a fan of Blues Clues. Always helpful and full of smiles, he loved to play, throw things and share his hugs and kisses. A lover of animals, especially monkeys, his dog Snuggles, cat Mittens and the family fish. He enjoyed dancing to the beat of music, treasured playing on his swing set with his mother, and wrestling and watching the Blue Jackets with his dad.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by grandparents Mark Eakin of South Vienna, Linda Moreland of Centerburg, John Govoni of Sunbury and Denise Hills of Mt. Vernon; great-grandmothers Doris Eakin and Janice Harris of Mt. Vernon; aunts and uncle Tonya Kiner, Felicia Moreland and Corey Eakin.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home at Ohio 3 and Ohio 61, Sunbury. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. John Neumann Church, 9633 E. Ohio 37, Sunbury, Rev. Ted Thomas celebrant. Burial will follow in Sunbury Memorial Park.
