Wednesday, October 21, 2009

Minnie A. Swearengin, 97, of Ostrander, passed away early Tuesday at Sarah Moore, where she made her home for the past seven years.

She was born July 29, 1912 in Delaware to Worley and Susan Appleman. The youngest of six children, she was a 20 year member of the Bellepoint United Methodist Church. Minnie enjoyed being a wife and mother to her family, cookie and baking breads and pies, canning vegetables and fruits, and raising flowers. She loved to sew and quilt, and kept an immaculate home for her family. An accomplished pianist, she entertained countless friends, relatives, and fellow residents and staff at Sarah Moore. She probably never knew how many people she made happy and the peace they experienced hearing the old hymns and songs she would play up until two months prior to her death.

She is survived by her three sons Jim (Elva) of Ostrander, Jack (Bobbie) of Worthington, and Joe of McConnelsville; six grandchildren Cheryl (Pete) Finley, Krystal (Ron) Beatty, Shelly Kaye Sills, Jennifer (Doug) Cvelbar, Tina Swearengin, and Dan (Averi) Swearengin; eight great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Paul in 1990, two brothers, and three sisters.

Friends will be received from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Rodman Neeper Funeral Home where services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday with the Rev. Paul McCullough of Bellepoint U.M.C. officiating. Interment will be at Oak Grove Cemetery. The family extends a warm heartfelt thanks to the staff at Sarah Moore Home for their love and devotion and excellent care given to their mother during the past seven years.
