Betty W. Griffith, 85, of Sunbury died Thursday, (Oct. 29 2009) at Edgewood Manor in Westerville.

She was born on May 5, 1924 in Delaware County to the late Bryan and DeVere (Needles) DeWitt. A graduate of Sunbury High School in 1942, she enjoyed fond memories of her younger days playing softball and attending the Saturday night community dances. Betty worked at Delo Screw and was a trained electrician for Griffith Brothers Electric.

An avid gardener of all types of vegetables, she also enjoyed fishing on the Hoover Reservoir. A member of the Vans Valley Community Church, she was happiest being at home and taking care of her family. Always dependable, she will be remembered for her caring and loving ways.

She was devoted to and survived by her husband of 66 years: Earl, her girl: Velda (Mike) Wise, grandson: Grant (Lea) Wise, great-grandson: Wesley, and numerous other nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by brothers: Russell and Bernard DeWitt.

Her family will greet friends one hour prior to the 3 p.m. memorial services, Sunday at Edgewood Manor, 140 N. State St., Westerville, where the Rev. Larry DeWitt will officiate. Arrangements entrusted to DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Sunbury.
