Phyllis Louise (Sparr) Campbell

Saturday, November 7, 2009

Phyllis Louise (Sparr) Campbell, 70, of Delaware, was suddenly called home Thursday (Nov. 5, 2009).

She was born Oct. 5, 1939 to Ralph and Margaret (Harrison) Sparr in Plain Township, Shreve, Wayne County. She married Roy Campbell of Loudonville on Dec. 28, 1956 in Shreve, Ohio and they had two daughters. They renewed their vows on Oct. 4, 2009 during her 70th birthday party at the Delaware Aerie 376. Phyllis and Roy came to Delaware in 1974 with the Flxible Corp. Phyllis was a member of The William Street United Methodist Church, Delaware Senior Citizens and The Delaware Eagles Auxiliary 376 where she served several years as an officer. She was a past member of The Moose Lodge 1167 Auxiliary, Loudonville Jaycee-ettes and worked on the election boards in Loudonville and Delaware. She enjoyed being a homemaker, her flowers, good conversation, doing karaoke and hosting family and friends get-togethers. Until she severely hurt her foot a few years ago, she and Roy would go dancing almost every weekend and just recently she was able to do more dancing as a result of participating in Silver Sneakers. Phyllis brought sunshine and joy to any setting by her demeanor and snappy comments to all those around her. Little children were drawn to her bubbly and friendly manner. She will be missed by her many friends and family members.

She is survived by her two daughters, Sharon (Phil) Tackett of New Bloomington and Jennifer Burke of Bogart, Ga.; three grandchildren, James(Sandy) Hoffman of Wallingford, Conn. and Slyde Michael and Jamie Louise Burke of Bogart, Ga.; three stepgrandchildren, Tammy (Rob) Cowell, Terry Tackett and Tonya (Steve) Boyd, all of Marion; four stepgreat-grandchildren, Ashlee Stover of Columbus, Preston and Colton Cowell and Brayden Boyd both of Marion; and two sisters, Eleanor (Walter “Pete”) Smith and Carol Mott.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Keith Sparr, four sisters, Beatrice Sparr, Pauline (Chester) Allenbaugh, Maxine (Harry) Butterbaugh and Barbara (Joe) Lee; brother-in-law, Ray Mott; and stepgranddaughter, Marina Tackett.

Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the Robinson Funeral Home, 32 W. Winter St., Delaware. A celebration of life service will be held at noon Monday at the William Street United Methodist Church, 28 W. William St., Delaware with the Rev. Julie Carmean officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Relay for Life, 870 Michigan Ave., Columbus, OH 43215 or the American Heart Association, PO Box 163549, Columbus, OH 43216.
